Our finest birds goldfinches comes to burdocs in autumn. Goldfinch draws with piles ruffled seed, bunts it over the basket hooks, scrapes and husk. The goldfinch has strange craving - to feed burdocs and spiky thistles seeds. And from here the name is given.

However, Raphael's handling of dark and light is subtler than the chiaroscuro of Leonardo da Vinci's work.
